《啊，船長！我的船長！》O Captain! my Captain!

 

在電影《春風化雨》Dead Poet Society 最後一幕，

羅賓威廉斯飾演的 Keating 老師拿完東西緩步走向門口時，

伊森霍克飾演的陶德安德森率先發難，他站上桌子指出學校逼退基亭老師的內幕，

接著還念出學期一開始時，老師教給他們的惠特曼名詩 O Captain! my Captain!

（這首美國詩人惠特曼完成於 1865 年的名詩，被認為是紀念同年亡故的林肯總統）

大多數的同學再也忍不住的內心澎湃的情緒紛紛站上桌子，回頭看著 Keating 老師，

導演連續近拍演員的雙腳、臉上的表情，加上 Maurice Jarre 的音樂，

這個畫面，我幾乎是每看必哭.....

 

 

以下是 O Captain! my Captain!  一詩全文與中譯：

O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done;
The ship has weathered every rack, the prize we sought is won;
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring:
　　But O heart! heart! heart!
　　O the bleeding drops of red,
　　Where on the deck my Captain lies,
　　Fallen cold and dead.

O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up—for you the flag is flung—for you the bugle trills;
For you bouquets and ribboned wreaths—for you the shores a-crowding;
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
　　Here Captain! dear father!
　　This arm beneath your head;
　　It is some dream that on the deck,
　　You’ve fallen cold and dead.

My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still;
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will;
The ship is anchored safe and sound, its voyage closed and done;
From fearful trip, the victor ship, comes in with object won;
　　Exult, O shores, and ring, O bells!
　　But I, with mournful tread,
　　Walk the deck my Captain lies,
　　Fallen cold and dead.

啊，船長！我的船長！我門可怕的航程已經完成，
啊！船已安然度過所有風暴，我們已達成目標，
港口在望，鐘聲已聞，人們歡欣，
眾人目光都緊盯這艘穩定前進的船，它是如此的莊嚴、勇敢；
　　然而，心啊！心啊！心啊！
　　淌著鮮紅的血滴，
　　我的船長就躺在甲板那邊，
　　他已渾身冰冷，停止呼吸。

啊，船長！我的船長！快起身聽這鐘聲吧！
站起身來 — 旌旗為你飛揚 — 號角為你奏鳴，
綴滿彩帶的花圈花束為你，岸上擁擠的群眾為你，
騷動的人群為你歡呼，引頸而盼；
　　這裡，船長！親愛的父親！
　　讓你的手枕著我的手臂，
　　此刻如夢一般，在甲板上，
　　他已渾身冰冷，停止呼吸。

我的船長不回答，他的嘴唇慘白而僵硬，
我的父親對我的手臂沒有反應，他已經沒有脈博和生命，
船已抵達，安然下錨，航程終了
渡過危險航程，這艘船載滿勝利回來了；
　　海岸歡呼～鐘聲齊鳴～
　　可是我以悲慟的步履，
　　行至甲板上船長所躺之處，
　　他已渾身冰冷，停止呼吸。
